Deadstock & Remnant Fabrics
We partner with FABSCRAP, a NYC-based nonprofit that diverts textile waste from landfills. Many of our pieces are crafted from deadstock and remnant fabrics — beautiful materials that would otherwise be discarded. This means some pieces are truly limited edition, determined by the fabrics available.
Studio Scrap Recycling
Beyond sourcing fabrics from FABSCRAP, we collect all textile scraps from the FERN atelier and send them back to be upcycled. Fabric scraps are processed into shoddy material — a recycled fiber used in housing insulation, furniture padding, and other industrial applications. This keeps our production waste out of landfills and in active material cycles. Read more about our approach to conscious fashion.
Local Production
All RTW pieces are made in local NYC Garment District sample rooms and factories. Custom and couture work is completed in the Upper West Side atelier, with additional seamstresses and production partners in the tri-state area.
Small-Batch Manufacturing
We produce in small batches — never mass quantities. This minimizes waste and ensures every piece meets our standards. Made-to-order items are produced only when purchased, eliminating overstock entirely.
Built to Last
Our pieces are designed for alterations and repairs, not replacement. Clients regularly return for adjustments as their bodies change, extending the life of each garment. Couture construction techniques ensure durability alongside beauty.
Recycled Packaging
All FERN orders ship in recycled and recyclable packaging. We use minimal packaging materials and avoid plastic wherever possible.
